The purpose of the Service Transition stage is to ensure that new, modified or retired services meet the expectations of the business. The expectations/requirements are documented in the deliverables from Service Strategy and Service Design activities. 

The objectives of the Service Transition are to: 

  • Plan and manage service changes and Releases effectively and efficiently 
  • Manage risks arising due to changes to services 
  • Manage the expectations of the stakeholders relating to new changes and releases 
  • Manage the creation of knowledge to manage the services effectively by the operations
